About this blog

I am doing this blog for a class project and I think, not only teaching other peoples about modern slavery, but by doing this project I have learned more things too.  From the research to the studying, doing this blog has opened my eyes to what slavery really means and I hope it has opened other peoples eyes that have been blinded for years since slavery had been outlawed and don't know it's still happening.  I hope I have persuaded you to help too, and that you will teach other people about it too, so more and more people will know about it and one day it might be stopped.

Looking Back at the Past

After reading more of this blogs posts, you will notice that a slaves life was horrid, unloved and most of all tortured.  But, the beatings the whippings and life it's self, wasn't the only despicable thing in a slaves life, there was even more worse things than those.  Have you ever given a thought about how they went around; what I mean is, have you ever given a thought about how they went on their daily lives, working and slaving away.  Here's a question, Let's say we were back in the 1950s to 1960s before the civil war and you are a slave, you have been taken from your family and loved ones, and is forced to work in blistering hot cotton fields all day, how would you feel?  Angry, sad, or just hopeful that a miracle would happen, and you would be set free.  I am sure that's what a lot of the slaves in that time would feel the same way, but the sad thing now is that it is still happening, not only the the U.S.A but all over the world, at this moment at least one slave has either been whipped or killed, maybe even more.  Now read this, if you want to know what I am talking about.

Every year, 19 million kids flee their own country.  Seeking somewhere else that's safe to live.  Over 70% of them never make it.  But that doesn't stop them from trying.

Human rights

There are many human rights, I will tell you most of them.  If you want to learn more about human rights you can go to www.youthforhumanrights.org
#1-We are all born free and equal
#2-Don't discriminate
#3-The right to life
#4-No slavery
#5-No torture
#6-You have rights no matter where you go
#7-We are all equal before the law
#8-Your human rights are protected by law
#9-No unfair detainment
#10-The right to trial

All these rights are what most of us have, people who live in a good place and are safe with a roof above your head. Many of these human rights are what keeps us safe in your bed. These aren't all the rights, but I told you 10 of them. These rights are supposed to keep everyone, every one in the world safe. But that is not true, these rights are good but not good enough. Many people who you probably don't know of aren't given these rights and have to live without them. Right now there is all these laws being disobeyed, by the government, and by other people. There is discrimination, there is slavery and torture, you don't have rights where ever you go and many of the human rights are being broken right at this moment.  There are 30 human rights and no one should try to take that away from you.
HUMAN RIGHTS ARE IMPORTANT, SO DON'T LOSE THEM.

The cycle of the slaves

Usually the way slaves are caught and captured, is that when there is the wars or fighting in their country or home town, that is usually called the conflict, then usually the peoples houses get destroyed.  Also, since there is a war, and they have no home to go to since it was destroyed and so now they are homeless and have nowhere to go, this is called displaced people.  While the people are trying to find a place to stay for the night and won't freeze to death on the street, the slave catchers are going around the neighborhood taking people of the street to become slaves.  After being caught those people are put to work in logging, mining, pipelines and other places where they can be put to work, and this is where they become slaves.  Since the slaves are making more and more money, and giving the resources to their owners, the resources are sold to fund the conflict, this is called environmental damage.   So, the three steps are the conflict, the displaced people, and the environmental damage, these three steps are to help people in need of other people to do their work for them and is the basic thing to get more slaves.  This cycle continues on and on, until these people who are doing this are stopped, so that may be a very long time.

The Treatment of Child Soldiers

Most people don't know about child soldiers but there are many children forced to do things they would never do if they weren't drugged or held at gun point. Child soldiers are treated very badly and cruelly. If they tried to run away they might be executed or beaten when they were caught, very few children escaped from the camps but many were killed from trying to escape. To make sure the children couldn't escape, the soldiers imprisoning them would make them kill their own families, so if they did escape they couldn't go back to them. The beating of slaves was very common and some slaves were actually killed or died from loss of blood from the beatings. It is very disgusting, but some of the slaves were actually raped if they did something wrong or disobedient. There are many child soldiers in our sad, sad world. If you know of someone, who is mistreated in these ways, you should tell someone and help.

Stop modern slavery

There is so much slavery these days and many people bow their heads and ignore it, but there are people who stand up to it, and try to make a difference. If you want to make a difference, you can, there are many websites about stopping it, you can check these websites out they are pretty good, http://www.stopmodernslavery.org/about-us/. You can make a difference, I am not saying that you should give $100 to free some slaves, it would be great, but you don't have to, you can help slaves in your daily life. To help stop slavery you can do many simple things in your daily life, before you buy a shirt or any other type of clothing, check if a slave had made it, check for most of the the things you usually buy. YOU CAN HELP
